Chloris (available at the domains chloris.cz and chloris.cloud) is run by Adam Karczmarczyk, Czech business ID (IČO): 02947927. Contact for any questions about the app, these terms or the processing of personal data: e-mail info@chloris.cz.
Chloris is an app for managing a home collection of houseplants. In particular, it offers:
Creating an account and basic use of the app (map, tracking, watering notifications) is free. You only pay for above-standard use of the AI features (plant identification, Plant doctor) beyond the free daily limit — see section 4.
Using the app requires registration — either with a name, e-mail and password, or with a Google account. When registering, the user actively agrees to these terms; the app stores the time of consent and the version of the terms with the account. The user is responsible for the accuracy of the data entered and for protecting their password — the app does not verify login details against the user’s identity in any way (e.g. by a confirmation e-mail); it relies on the user entering a working e-mail address to which important messages may be sent (e.g. a notice of an upcoming subscription renewal). One e-mail = one account; data of different accounts are fully separated from each other.
The app offers paid AI credit packs in three variants — monthly, quarterly and yearly — which unlock a higher monthly limit of AI questions (plant identification + Plant doctor combined) compared with the default free daily limit. The current price list is always shown directly in the app when choosing a pack. Payments will be processed through the Stripe payment gateway — the app itself never stores or sees payment card numbers.
A purchased subscription renews automatically at the end of the paid period at the same price until the user cancels it. The app notifies the user by e-mail 7 days in advance of an upcoming renewal, for all packs (monthly, quarterly and yearly) before every renewal. The notice includes the renewal date, the amount to be charged and a link to subscription management, so that the user has a real opportunity to cancel the subscription in time if they do not want it renewed. A confirmation is sent by e-mail for every successful payment (the first one and each renewal).
For buyers with a billing address in Poland there is an exception: after the first year, the yearly subscription does not renew for another year but automatically switches to a monthly subscription in the same currency at the current monthly price. It can be cancelled at any time, effective at the end of the month. The e-mail notice 7 days before each renewal applies here too.
Under Act No. 89/2012 Coll. (the Czech Civil Code), in accordance with EU Directive 2011/83 on consumer rights, a consumer generally has the right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days without giving a reason. For digital content not supplied on a tangible medium — and AI questions unlocked by a credit pack are such content — the law however allows the consumer to expressly waive this right if they expressly request that the app start providing the pack (unlock the higher limit) immediately after payment, and acknowledge that they thereby lose the right of withdrawal.
The app requires this consent through a separate checkbox on the Subscription page, before going to the payment gateway, separate from the consent to these terms — the consumer must therefore express their will actively; the app must not pre-tick it. Without both consents the app will not start the payment. The time both consents were given is stored with the payment at the payment gateway as evidence.
The subscription can be cancelled at any time directly in the app: on the Subscription → Manage subscription page, which opens a secure page of the Stripe payment gateway. There you can cancel the renewal (and undo the cancellation until the end of the period), change the payment card and download payment records. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period and the app confirms it by e-mail. After cancellation the app keeps access to the purchased limit until the end of the period already paid for — access is not removed immediately. The app does not refund money for the unused part of a paid period, not even proportionally. Unused AI questions from the subscription or from any trial credit do not carry over to the next period and expire at the end of the period.
Answers from the artificial intelligence (plant species identification, Plant doctor recommendations) are an informative aid, not a professional botanical or veterinary opinion. The app strives for the highest possible accuracy but does not guarantee that the AI will identify the plant species correctly or that the diagnosis of a problem will be accurate — especially for rarer species or ambiguous symptoms. Decisions about plant care (e.g. repotting, use of chemical products) remain with the user.
The app serves as an aid and the user uses it at their own responsibility. The operator is not liable for damage to plants or for any other damage arising from the user following the recommendations of the app or the artificial intelligence, nor for loss of data caused by a service outage — all to the extent permitted by law. This does not affect the operator’s liability for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, nor any other consumer rights that cannot be excluded or limited by contract.
The operator reserves the right to block or delete the account of a user who abuses the app — in particular attempts to circumvent security measures, automated abuse of the AI features beyond normal use of the app, or uploading content that is unrelated to plant care and violates applicable law.
The terms may be amended in the future, especially in connection with the launch of new paid features. The user will be informed of a material change (e.g. pricing policy, cancellation terms) at their next sign-in or by e-mail. By continuing to use the app after such a change, the user agrees to the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. The operator seeks to resolve any disputes primarily amicably, by direct agreement. A consumer also has the right to turn to the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (Česká obchodní inspekce, coi.cz) as the body for out-of-court resolution of consumer disputes.
The controller of personal data processed by the Chloris app is Adam Karczmarczyk (see section 1 of the Terms of service above for contact details). We have not appointed a data protection officer (the scale of the app does not create this obligation) — questions about personal data are answered by the operator personally.
| Data category | Example |
|---|---|
| Login data | name, e-mail address, password hash (the app never stores the password in readable form), time the e-mail address was confirmed; when signing in with Google, the name, e-mail and Google account identifier — the app never receives the Google account password |
| Consent to the terms | time of registration and the version of the terms the user agreed to |
| Payment data | first name, surname and e-mail of the buyer (for the invoice), information about the purchased pack and its period, the time of the consents given before payment — the app never sees the card number |
| Photos of the home and plants | photos of plants and floor plans of the flat/house — these may contain information about the interior of the home |
| Content of AI questions | photos and texts sent to the plant identification / Plant doctor features and the AI answers |
| App rating | star rating, optional text and consent to publication, collected after the pilot period ends |
| Operational data | web server logs (IP address, browser type, page visited and time), IP address for sign-in and registration attempts (protection against abuse), days on which the account was active in the app, anonymous registration and sign-in steps (only a rough browser type, no IP address or e-mail), technical data about web push subscriptions |
We do not sell personal data to anyone and do not pass it on to third parties for their own purposes (advertising, marketing, etc.), and we ourselves use it for nothing other than running the app for the user concerned. Anthropic does not use the photos and texts sent to the plant identification and Plant doctor features to train its models. We pass data only to processors without which the app cannot work:
The operator saves backups of the database and photos every night to storage in the Czech Republic (no further third party receives the data as a result). Both the transfer and the stored backups are encrypted — only the operator can open them — and the backup is used only to restore the app after an outage or loss of the server.
After the pilot period ends, the app offers the user a one-off app rating form. The rating (stars and optional text) is always stored for the operator’s internal overview. A rating appears on the public marketing page of the app (reviews/testimonials) only if the user explicitly ticks the consent box when submitting the form agreeing that their rating may be published. Without the tick, the rating remains purely internal.
When a rating is published, only the name or initials and the text of the rating are shown — the user’s e-mail address is never displayed when publishing, not even partially. The e-mail is visible only to the operator in their password-protected internal overview.
We keep data associated with an account for as long as the account exists. If the user asks for the account to be deleted (see section 7), we delete their personal data without undue delay, except for data we are required by law to keep longer (e.g. accounting records of payments for the period required by tax regulations).
Backups are kept for at most 30 days and are then deleted automatically. Deleted data (a plant, a photo or an entire account) therefore disappear from the backups no later than 30 days after deletion in the app. Data is restored from a backup only when restoring the entire app, never to bring back an individual deleted account.
Operational data is deleted automatically: web server logs and IP addresses for sign-in attempts after 30 days, messages written to the user by the operator and anonymous registration steps after 1 year.
After an account is deleted in the app, only a record of payments received and of actions taken by the operator (e.g. adding AI questions) remains, no longer linked to the deleted account. For the customer record and invoices at Stripe, see point 4.
With regard to their personal data, the user has the right:
These rights can be exercised by contacting the operator — see the contact details at the beginning of the Terms of service.
The app stores passwords only as a secure hash (bcrypt), never in readable form. Photos and the database are stored outside the publicly accessible part of the web server, and communication with the app takes place exclusively encrypted over HTTPS (TLS 1.2/1.3), and backups are stored encrypted. Access to the data of individual users is isolated at the application level — one user has no technical way of seeing another user’s data.
The chloris.cz home page stores no cookies. Only the Chloris app itself stores them (which includes sign-in and registration), namely: one for signing in (valid until the browser is closed), one for staying signed in on a given device (valid for 90 days, removed by signing out or changing the password) and one for the language choice (valid for 1 year and only created when you choose a language yourself in the switcher). All of them are necessary for the app to work, which is why the app does not ask for cookie consent and they cannot be turned off — anyone who does not want them cannot use the Chloris app. The choice of light or dark theme is remembered only by the user’s browser and is not sent anywhere. The app uses no analytics, advertising or tracking cookies and does not share them with any third party.
If the user believes that the processing of their personal data violates the GDPR, they have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in the Czech Republic with the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, uoou.cz), or with the supervisory authority of the EU member state where they live or work.
We recommend contacting the operator directly first (contact in section 11). We can resolve most issues quickly and amicably. This does not in any way limit the right to lodge a complaint directly with a supervisory authority.
For all questions concerning the processing of personal data by the Chloris app, please contact the operator at info@chloris.cz.
